Call to Order and Land Acknowledgement

 

A. Karbashewski, Office of the City Clerk, called the meeting to order at 8:04 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2024, and acknowledged that Community and Public Services Committee meets on the traditional land of Treaty 6 Territory and the Métis homeland. The Chair also acknowledged the diverse Indigenous peoples whose ancestors' footsteps have marked this territory for centuries such as: Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Nakota Sioux, as well as Métis and Inuit, and now settlers from around the world.

Roll Call

 

A. Karbashewski, Office of the City Clerk, conducted Roll Call and confirmed the attendance of Members of Community and Public Sevices Committee.

A. Karbashewski and J. Shearer, Office of the City Clerk, were also in attendance.

Election of Chair

 

A. Karbashewski, Office of the City Clerk, called for nominations for the position of Chair, Community and Public Services Committee.

Councillor A. Salvador nominated Councillor E. Rutherford for the position of Chair, Community and Public Services Committee.

A. Karbashewski, Office of the City Clerk, asked if there were any further nominations. There being no other nominations, A. Karbashewski declared the nominations closed.

    That Councillor E. Rutherford be elected as Chair, Community and Public Services Committee.


    In Favour (4)S. Hamilton, A. Salvador, E. Rutherford, and A. Stevenson


    Carried (4 to 0)

    A. Karbashewski, Office of the City Clerk, vacated the Chair and Councillor E. Rutherford presided.

Election of Vice-Chair

 

Councillor E. Rutherford called for nominations for the position of Vice-Chair, Community and Public Services Committee.

Councillor E. Rutherford nominated Councillor A. Salvador for the position of Vice-Chair, Community and Public Services Committee.

Councillor E. Rutherford asked if there were any further nominations. There being no other nominations, Councillor E. Rutherford declared the nominations closed.

    That Councillor A. Salvador be elected as Vice-Chair, Community and Public Services Committee.
