Mayor A. Sohi called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2022, and acknowledged that Executive Committee meets on the traditional land of Treaty 6 Territory. The Chair also acknowledged the diverse Indigenous peoples whose ancestors' footsteps have marked this territory for centuries such as: Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Nakota Sioux, as well as Metis and Inuit, and now settlers from around the world.

Mayor A. Sohi conducted roll call and confirmed the attendance of Members of Executive Committee.

Councillor T. Cartmell; and A. Giesbrecht, City Clerk; M. de Guzman and C. McLuckie, Office of the City Clerk, were also in attendance.

Councillor E. Rutherford stated that at the next regular meeting of Council Services Committee, she would move the following:

That Council Services Committee recommend to City Council:

That Administration prepare a bylaw for an independent task force, comprised of five individuals, for the purpose of reviewing:

  • roles and responsibilities of City Councillors,
  • Councillors’ Budget and Expenses Policy C618A,
  • Councillors Ward and Common Budget allocations,
  • centralized supports funded under the Common Budget,

and bring forward any changes/recommendations, if any, to assess current allocation of resources and to ensure equity among all 12 Ward Offices.
