Councillor T. Cartmell called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2022, and acknowledged that Community and Public Services Committee meets on the traditional land of Treaty 6 Territory. The Chair also acknowledged the diverse Indigenous peoples whose ancestors' footsteps have marked this territory for centuries such as: Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Nakota Sioux, as well as Metis and Inuit, and now settlers from around the world.

Councillor T. Cartmell conducted roll call and confirmed the attendance of Members of Community and Public Services Committee. 

*Mayor A. Sohi is a Committee Member pursuant to section 15(3), Council Committees Bylaw 18156.

Demise of the Crown (T. Cartmell)        

Councillor T. Cartmell, on behalf of City Council, expressed condolences to The Royal Family on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Canada’s longest reigning sovereign. Earlier this year, Her Late Majesty became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, commemorating 70 years on the throne. The mourning period has begun, and a book of condolences is available to all Edmontonians in City Hall for the next seven days.
