Call to Order and Related Business

Call to Order and Land Acknowledgment

J. Vizbar, Office of the City Clerk, called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2023, and acknowledged that Urban Planning Committee meets on the traditional land of Treaty 6 Territory. The Office of the City Clerk also acknowledged the diverse Indigenous peoples whose ancestors' footsteps have marked this territory for centuries such as: Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Nakota Sioux, as well as Metis and Inuit, and now settlers from around the world.

Roll Call

J. Vizbar, Office of the City Clerk, conducted Roll Call and confirmed the attendance of Members of Urban Planning Committee.

Councillors A. Knack, J. Rice and J. Wright; and J. Vizbar, J. Shearer and T. Orbell, Office of the City Clerk, were also in attendance.

Election of Chair

J. Vizbar, Office of the City Clerk, called for nominations for the position of Chair, Urban Planning Committee.

Councillor T. Cartmell nominated Councillor A. Stevenson for the position of Chair, Urban Planning Committee.

J. Vizbar, Office of the City Clerk, asked if there were any further nominations. There being no other nominations, J. Vizbar declared the nominations closed.

  That Councillor A. Stevenson be elected as Chair, Urban Planning Committee.

Election of Vice-Chair

Councillor A. Stevenson called for nominations for the position of Vice-Chair, Urban Planning Committee.

Councillor E. Rutherford nominated Councillor K. Tang for the position of Vice-Chair, Urban Planning Committee.

Councillor A. Stevenson asked if there were any further nominations. There being no other nominations, Councillor A. Stevenson declared the nominations closed.

  That Councillor K. Tang be elected as Vice-Chair, Urban Planning Committee.

Councillor A. Stevenson, on behalf of Urban Planning Committee, welcomed the Grade 4 class from St. John Bosco School in Ward tastawiyiniwak and their teacher, L. Garcia.
