Mayor A. Sohi called the meeting to order at 9:38 a.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2023, and acknowledged that City Council meets on the traditional land of Treaty 6 Territory and Métis Homelands. The Chair also acknowledged the diverse Indigenous peoples whose ancestors' footsteps have marked this territory for centuries such as: Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Nakota Sioux, as well as Métis and Inuit, and now settlers from around the world.

Mayor A. Sohi conducted roll call and confirmed the attendance of Members of City Council.

Mayor A. Sohi, on behalf of City Council, acknowledged that November 7 is Inuit Day. Edmonton is home to one of the largest communities of Inuit south of the 60th parallel, which lies along Alberta’s northern border. It is a day to celebrate the richness of diverse Inuit cultures and reflect on shared histories.

Mayor A. Sohi, on behalf of City Council, recognized that November 8 is Indigenous Veterans Day. This is the very first time the City is recognizing a day for Indigenous soldiers and is also hosting an Indigenous Veterans Day ceremony in City Hall.

Mayor A. Sohi, on behalf of City Council, welcomed the Grade 6 class from Joey Moss School in Ward pihêsiwin and their teacher, A. Swoboda.

Councillor K. Principe stated that at the next regular meeting of City Council, the following motion would be moved:

That Administration provide a report to sell the city-owned Schonsee parcel at 16704 - 66 Street NW (legally described as Lot, Block C, Plan 2887AQ) and obtain the Inglewood parcel at 11315 - 128 Street NW (legally described as Lot 17-19, Block 5, Plan RN60) through a linked transaction and return to Council in First Quarter 2024.
