Councillor A. Stevenson called the meeting to order at 9:31 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2024, and acknowledged that Urban Planning Committee meets on the traditional land of Treaty 6 Territory and Métis Homelands. The Chair also acknowledged the diverse Indigenous peoples whose ancestors' footsteps have marked this territory for centuries such as: Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Nakota Sioux, as well as Métis and Inuit, and now settlers from around the world.

Councillor A. Stevenson conducted roll call and confirmed the attendance of Members of Urban Planning Committee.

Mayor A. Sohi is a Committee Member pursuant to section 15(3), Council Committees Bylaw 18156.

Councillors S. Hamilton, A. Knack, A. Paquette, K. Principe, J. Rice, A. Salvador and J. Wright; and C. Martin, Acting Deputy City Clerk, M. de Guzman and A. Karbashewski, Office of the City Clerk, were also in attendance.

    Car-free and Shared Streets in Downtown - Action Plan

    That Administration provide a report outlining an Action Plan developed to address the outstanding opportunities as outlined in the December 5, 2023, Urban Planning and Economy report UPE01333 - Closed and Shared Streets in Downtown, actions in the community-developed Downtown Pedestrianization Plan, and the following items:

    • a sequencing of actions and an implementation schedule with budget and resource requirements;
    • metrics to inform ongoing monitoring and evaluation, with regular  reporting on progress; and
    • connection and integration with the Capital City Downtown Plan through engagement with key stakeholders and the community.
