Councillor M. Janz called the meeting to order at 9:32 a.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2025, and acknowledged that Urban Planning Committee meets on the traditional land of Treaty 6 Territory and the Métis homeland. The Chair also acknowledged the diverse Indigenous peoples whose ancestors' footsteps have marked this territory for centuries such as: Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Nakota Isga, as well as Métis and Inuit, and now settlers from around the world.

Councillor M. Janz conducted roll call and confirmed the attendance of Members of Urban Planning Committee.

Mayor A. Sohi is a Committee Member pursuant to section 15(3), Council Committees Bylaw 18156.

Councillors T. Cartmell, A. Paquette, K. Principe, A. Stevenson and K. Tang; and E. Norton, M. Moussa and J. Taves, Office of the City Clerk, were also in attendance.

Councillor J. Rice, on behalf of Urban Planning Committee, recognized May as Asian Heritage Month. This year also marks the 40th Anniversary of Sister Cities relationship with Harbin, China, and the City of Edmonton's continued support through the Chinatown Vibrancy Fund.

Councillor M. Janz, on behalf of Urban Planning Committee, welcomed the Grades 5 and 6 classes from Keheewin Elementary School in Ward Ipiihkoohkanipiaohtsi and their teachers, E. Moubarak and M. Yakubow.

Councillor M. Janz, on behalf of Urban Planning Committee, welcomed the Grade 6 classes from LaPerle School in Ward Nakota Isga and their teachers, T. Freund and S. Presko.
