Mayor A. Sohi called the meeting to order at 9:31 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2022, and acknowledged that City Council meets on the traditional land of Treaty 6 Territory. The Chair also acknowledged the diverse Indigenous peoples whose ancestors' footsteps have marked this territory for centuries such as: Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Nakota Sioux, as well as Metis and Inuit, and now settlers from around the world.

Mayor A. Sohi conducted roll call and confirmed the attendance of Members of City Council.

Councillor A. Stevenson was absent without notice for a portion of the meeting.

Councillor S. Hamilton was absent for a portion of the meeting due to technical issues.

Mayor A. Sohi, on behalf of City Council, recognized an award-winning campaign that was developed and implemented by the Communications and Engagement team and Edmonton Transit Service. Multiple teams collaborated and executed the awareness campaign that won the American Public Transportation’s AdWheel Grand Award for Best Marketing and Communications Educational Initiative.

Mayor A. Sohi, on behalf of City Council, recognized that the Canadian Urban Transit Association awarded the Edmonton Transit Service with a corporate award in the first-ever Equity, Diversity and Inclusion category.

Mayor A. Sohi, on behalf of City Council, recognized an accreditation led by the City’s Service Innovation and Performance Branch in making Edmonton a more data-driven city. The Mayor also recognized the World Council on City Data’s efforts for cities, which Edmonton originally joined in 2019 as part of the Data Canadian Cities Pilot Project.

Cost Sharing Partnerships with Organizations to Increase Small-scale Community Amenities, Recreation and Leisure Spots in the Downtown Area

That Administration provide a report pursuing options for cost sharing partnerships with organizations to increase small-scale community amenities, recreation and leisure spots in the Downtown area, including options for joint implementation of a pilot program for small court-style activities, corporate sponsorships, and similar initiatives outlined in Attachment 1 of the October 11, 2022, Urban Planning and Economy report UPE00948.
